Friend my Nellie Zimmerman myspace tribute site!
The first Nellie Zimmerman Day.
A friend of mine and I were talking about such things the other night...as we sat and talked of such things..in our lives and just how we have lived our lives. My friend thinks not. How can one test score measure the whole sum of a human life? And yet,..she and I both know that there are those in this world,..who would reduce a person's real life as that person has lived it,..not down to what a person has done with their life or how faithful a person has been in their marriage or how one has actually treated the people around one,..or what one has written about one's life or one's beliefs,..or how one has actually lived one's life or believed and how one has lived up to the values in one's life,..there are people,..who will reduce one's life down to one written test score given at a specific time on a specific date in an environment that might not be conducive to one's abilities or disAbilities,..and then,..make predictions as to just how one might act in any given situation based on that test score..and not based on how one has acted in one's real life,..no matter how noble one's life or belief system has been or could be. I sat quite numbly and listened to my friend's life story...as I have sat and listened to other folks' life stories and I have sat and wondered about how people have the ability to treat some folks as badly as those folks have been treated by others in this world. I sat in wonder and was quite amazed that my friend is still going through this life with her sanity..complete. My friend's other question on life was,.."Just how much should you love another person?" My answer was,.."T. J.,...there is no limit on how much you can love another person. You can love another person,..but you don't have to love their actions..at times. And no one has the obligation of staying with or putting up with another person..if that person is trying to destroy you,...no matter how much you "love" them or they say that they "love" you. Such "love" isn't love. Such "love" is merely one person trying to manipulate or use another person in the name of love."
